A very mixed bag. Great location - easy to walk (25 mins) to centre and local park. We got in touch in advance to ask re early check in which wasn’t possible, but were told we could use the car parking space to leave our car. We got there to find there was no car parking space. Unsafe flooring on first floor landing - all covered with rugs and no signs to warn it was unstable. One of our party turned their ankle on this floor which impacted their enjoyment. Super hot - all radiators on high probably to help with damp. Strong "swimming pool" smell on arrival. Discovered in morning before leaving while clearing recycling to yard that back door was unlocked (no key by door) and gate hadnt been bolted so anyone could have walked in overnight. Good space for getting together with friends. Such a shame that it doesnt match the quality photos suggest.

The location of this house is brilliant - good walking distance to the City of Oxford and in a fun neighbourhood. But we definitely wouldn't recommend it! The house itself needs a lot of attention - the floor outside the bathroom upstairs is rotting, and the host has covered what is essentially a hole by stapling carpet to damp floor tiles. The bathroom was exceptionally dusty. The backdoor doesn't have a proper lock. Getting check-in information was stressful - the host (I think a property management company rather than individuals) had no record of our booking or payment, so Airbnb had to get involved. We've always had positive experiences of properties that we've booked through Airbnb but this was definitely a let-down.

The description of the house itself was good. Great location and nice area. It was laughable for the host to say there is a parking space as no car I have seen would fit there but there was street parking 2 minutes walk away free from 6.30pm to 8am and then you could pay for up to 3 hours in the daytime. You can park outside to unload your luggage. On the check in information, everything was accurate except the description of the location and nearby transport as this was all about London instead. The house was quite dusty, as if it had been cleaned maybe a few days before our arrival but the downstairs toilet was quite dirty - hair and dust all around the sink and pipe boxing with some sticky areas. Good kitchen facilities although the toaster didn't work and then tripped the fuse. Only a wardrobe in 1 bedroom, would've been nice to have more to hang clothes. Very warm and good shower.

Clean, new appliances, easy check in. Only complaint was that it was advertised as 2 bath unit. The 1/2 bath on the ground floor was inconvenient to the bedrooms and not sufficient as all had to shower in the upstairs bath.

This is a great house to stay when visiting Oxford. Only a short 15 minutes walking distance from the city centre. Spacious, clean, tidy and the area is quiet. The only thing that I would point out though is that there is only 1 bathroom & a separate toilet not 2 bathrooms as mentioned in the description.

I'll start with the negative: I did not knock off a star like the previous reviewer, but see why they did. The communication prior to our stay was non-existent to the point of concern. That is something that definitely needs to be improved upon--we were given so many names, we had no idea who our contact person was prior to arrival. That said, once that was all sorted, everything was wonderful. The home is a bit off the beaten path, but is in a quiet, residential neighborhood, a pleasant walk to the center of town and away from all the tourists. There was no "greeter," however, the key was left in an easy to find lock box (code provided), the house was immaculate, fully furnished, the bed linens were clean, soft and plentiful, as were towels. Amenities included free wifi, coffee, tea, laundry (and detergent), hair dryer and more. The addition of a "Handy" phone was a very nice touch--we did not end up taking it with us, but was a nice feature. There was more than enough room for our family of 4 and we very much enjoyed the living space. The one day we had a car, we easily found parking right out front. There was a nice patio out back, but it was December, so we opted to stay indoors when "home." There was a TV with Netflix and a bookshelf full of books (to which we added a couple). In addition to the improvement in communication, my only additional suggestions would be to a) explain how to lock the doors (you have to pull up on the handle--not obvious to everyone), and b) have a few extra rolls of toilet paper on hand. Overall, we loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone visiting Oxford and would definitely stay again.

The accommodations were as good as advertised. The house was clean, comfortable and well furnished. All the appliances and other furnishing are new or fairly new and worked with no issues. It is well located for being able to walk around Oxford. It is about a 10 minute walk from the bus station, and only a little further to City Center. The neighborhood where it is located is quiet. The only problem we encountered with the reservation was regarding communication after the booking. It took several attempts to make contact with the property management. I was advised that this was due to a computer glitch that failed to send out the pre-formatted email after booking. Regardless, after the communication problem was rectified, the rest of the rental was very good. I would recommend this property.

Positive: Great location, lovely big house with really nice decor. Open plan kitchen and diner was so nice. Lots of rooms and beds for everyone to stay. Negative: It was sooooo hot, we were dying in the heat lol. There didn't seem to be anyway to turn the heating off either. There wasn't any parking, which we did know and we parked at the park and ride which was fine. It would have been handy though to be able to have at least parked one car as we had a lot of kids with us and taking all our bags on the bus was quite difficult. Like I said though we knew that in advance so maybe we shouldn't have bought so much stuff haha

Positive: Central location so walking distance - large and spacious and good cooking / dining facilities. Nice communal area with large kitchen/diner Negative: (1) have messages prior to arriving that there is a parking space behind the property. When we arrived it is Parking permits only!!!!! One of the neighbours told us this happens all the time and the property owners should buy a yearly parking permit - great idea!! We had a loaded up car so had to unpack very quickly then find a car park. £15 cost over night and a 20 minute walk to the house. Next day drove out to park and ride which then cost me a total of £15 over the next few days. Very very unhappy (2) minor issue property description states two bathrooms aka 1 bathroom and 1 downstairs toilet (3) £250 deposit- actually taken from my account takes 14 days after check out to refund AND THEN it doesn’t appear as quickly as it was paid, oh no apparently can take up to 10 days and it’s my banks fault!!! Surely a much better system can be in place…. So I now will face a further payment because the £250 still not paid on my credit card!!

Positive: Location was good 15 min walk into main city centre. Don't drive as parking was a nightmare Negative: Parking was not available so don't drive. Accommodation was acceptable but they had had a water leak prior to our stay and this had not been communicated with us or repaired fully. The plumbing in general was poor the toilet was over flushing and the heating seemed all over the place. Seemed poorly cleaned in between visitors and we took a dog and the extra we paid was above and beyond any other stay with a dog

Very disappointed with the accommodation and Booking.com’s so-called customer service.
Positive: Location and layout of ground floor with spacious kitchen diner. This was good for socialising Negative: I have never complained or had anything to complain about in the past and I have been a loyal and regular customer for many years. Sadly this was not the case on this holiday. We needed parking for one car, two of our group have impaired mobility, this was promised and not available. This spoiled the start of the holiday and was a source of continuing anxiety throughout our stay, as all the nearby roads were exclusively residents parking. We would not have booked accommodation without private parking and so regard the statement that the property had private parking as fraudulent. The bonus question states that we had “expressed a preference for private parking” this misrepresents the situation as we believed were were booking a house with private parking because that is what was cited/ promised in the Booking.com website. Customer services at Booking.com were a bitter disappointment and after 2 decades of using this company none of the 5 of us will do so again. The landing floor was very damaged and hazardous and only one of the 4 bedrooms had any capacity for hanging clothes or drawers, not even a hook on the back of the door. The google map reference provided in the letter from the third party letting agent was for a London property not our accommodation in Oxford and directed us to find parking in street much searching revealed was also in London, not Oxford.

Negative: We were very disappointed to find there was a wooden bollard preventing us from driving into the private parking space promised to us. I wouldn't have booked the property if I had known about this. We drove with 2 cars and had to park both of them in a car park. It caused us a bit of hassle and it wasn't quite the relaxing time we'd hoped for! Also, the floor was uneven in places upstairs - a bit of a trip hazard. This worried me because someone in my party struggles to see.

Mesmo que fossemos sair, que não era o caso, ele nunca poderia entrar durante nossa estadia, sem aviso. E avisamos a todo momento que haveria uma segunda reserva para as mesmas pessoas e perguntamos se poderiam apenas continuar sem fazer o checkout. Não tivemos resposta a tempo.

Location and property rules, including for garbage, sent for a place in London (and not in Oxford)! Positive: Location. Sufficient room for 4 adults and 3 children. A quiet street. Off street parking. Negative: Poor information - no on-site information about disposal of rubbish or recycling. £250 deposit was not mentioned in initial booking, was returned a week late, and had to be chased. Excessive security vetting requiring personal details and photos. Steep kerb to access off-street parking could damage car. Used tissues under the bed. No hanging space for clothes in top bedroom. Missing bath plug and lids for pans, damaged switch on kettle, light permanently on in bathroom.

Jeff fue un anfitrión estupendo, no le conocimos en persona pero estuvo accesible por mensaje. Nos encantó tener una trona para nuestro bebé, las camas eran cómodas y la cocina completa. Solo se puede aparcar con permiso en el barrio, hay una calle de pago a 2 min andando, 15 min andando del centro de Oxford. Recomiendo sin duda el alojamiento y a Jeff como anfitrión, muchas gracias por la estancia.

Positive: Fantastic location. Loads of lovely cafes, restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance. 15 mins to town center. House is nicely decorated and comfortable. Negative: There is only one bathroom., although there is a guest loo. A 3rd party company manages the property and they require selfies and photos of ID of renter. They won’t give you the address until 24/48 hours before and lots of the info they send about the location is incorrect (wifi instructions, parking, local info etc). There is a small parking space at the side of the house but there is no lip on the curb so, be careful when using it. Sofa sleeper was damaged but totally usable as a couch.

Lovely home in Jericho, Oxford - big enough for 4
Positive: Central and quiet location - proximity to shops, restaurants, sights. Large and spacious - we had 4 people in our group and did not feel cramped. Bright and airy. Well equipped. Negative: The arrival info “fact sheet” initially sent to me was incorrect - it was for a different property and not the one I booked. Even the third and final iteration of the document was not completely correct (eg wrong Wi-fi details). On arrival, we ran into problems with key lock - it took ages to get the keys out (perhaps a previous guest had damaged it?). I think perhaps the property managers are new as they were not able to give correct / useful answers regarding car parking or how to operate the television. Nevertheless the positive of the lovely home outweighed the negatives in the end.

Lovely location. There are lots of bars, pubs, cafes and shops nearby in Jericho and Oxford city centre is an easy walking distance. There is a playground very close by. The beds were very comfy. There was a good recycling system. Downsides: the parking space is very small and up a kerb. The stairs are wooden with no carpet or bannister on the lower steps and a bit sloppy for children.

Positive: It has a nice open plan sitting room and kitchen and easy to keep clean and tidy. 2 decent sized double bedrooms and one small room with bunk beds. I like the area of Jericho in Oxford Negative: the small room had no wardrobe or table or bedside lamp. The information about the property was only accessible through a different agency to booking.com and only accessible on a link which made it fiddly to access. There was no print out of anything in the property and no guide books. the info said there would be yea coffee and washing powder already there so we didn’t bother buying it but found that the only tea was chamomile and green tea the only coffee was filter coffee not instant and there was no washing powder. small niggles just annoying when you have kids. there was a lot of legal contract type info that flooded in after we booked about noise after 10 pm and ID documents which I haven’t encountered before and made it all seem a bit unfriendly tbh. the house itself is modern and not particularly pretty on the outside. on the whole though I’d recommend it as inside its comfortable and a nice residential area and easy reach of nice cafes and restaurants towards Walton road and St Giles and a 15 min pleasant walk to Broad Street and centre.

Positive: Great location, easy walk into Oxford city centre, Lots of bars and interesting shops in Jericho itself. Lots of space for 3 generation family. Comfy beds and sofas. In the end none of us came by car, so didn't use the parking space. Negative: Registration process extremely intrusive, with a requirement for photo ID +individual photos of all party members holding photo ID. I wondered what what we'd been charged with. You need to look at the staircase, which has no carpet and no handrail for the lowest 3/4 steps, and consider putting in a handrail on the RHS facing down for older and/or less mobile guests.

Com by emails, but nobody attended, so unfortunately, in three days staying, we have to buy daily breakfast + lunch+dinner for three persons from outside, which is totally disappointed after paying huge amount and again paying for extra due to noresponsibilty by property management as well as booking.com Therefore, we are totally disappointed and demanding to refund @ 50% refund due to negligence by property management as well as booking. Com Pl treat above matters seriously in the future for customers who are blindly trusted in you and your company as like me.

lovely weekend but property very disappointing

Most of furniture has seen better days and needs replacing. dining chairs stained. details stated that kitchen had recently been renewed. kick boards missing and stains on worktop. electric hob didn’t work. mould on the ceiling in bathroom and bunk bed room. blind in bunk bed room broken. when showering water poured onto the floor as shower screen no good. TV only worked on catch up so couldn’t watch live TV. some cobwebs and a few spiders in the bedrooms. parking space beside house was actually a pathway and we were told by council workers we shouldn’t be parking there. council workers turned up Sat a.m. and screwed a huge gate post to side of property with loads of noisy drilling.

Great location. The place was clean. This isn’t a luxurious stay, more typical of a university type accommodation, and it was good for our one night stay. We had a question about the location of the parking and the management company was quick to respond. It would be nice if they updated the parking information with a picture (the parking spot is up on a curb so tricky to pull up). Overall this was a good stay!

AVOID THIS PROPERTY until you are clear it’s been fixed. The flooring is all ripped up the stairs and on landing, the floors are disgusting. The fridge hasn’t been cleaned down, there is excessive rust and leaking radiator in the bottom bathroom. Top bathroom is thick with mold has no fan (it’s hanging off the ceiling) bathroom tiles are thick with mold, kitchen has stains all over it. The couch in the living room is broken (side hanging off closest to kitchen). The back door is not safe, it has no lock or keys. The WiFi details are not correct on profile. There is no welcome instructions. The hosts are terrible at responding. This property should be taken offline until the hosts respond. We had to move out and demand a refund (sorted only by getting intouch with Airbnb). Property looks nothing like the photos. Very very poor. Worst Airbnb I have ever stayed in! You cannot lock the back door! It’s very unsafe with just two plastic clips to keep it closed! Do not book! Wasted our hood!

We were travelling with a baby and had specified in advance that we will need a cot. When we arrived, we found that the provided one was broken to the point of unusability, and smelled strongly of mold. We phoned immediately to ask for a replacement, but it took two days of repeated mails and phone calls until they delivered one. However, it came without a matress or bedding and we were told "we don't provide these". So in the end, our baby slept on the floor the entire stay and because she did not sleep very well there, neither did we. The house overall was ok - some perks, such as the kitchen with lots of utensils, but also some broken stuff, stains, moldy corners, etc. It was tricky to get wifi access (the provided instructions were wrong) and took us quite some time to figure out how to lock the door. Not a pleasant stay overall.

This place is perfectly located to enjoy Oxford. It’s only a short walk to access the colleges and lively shops. The home is also really well equipped with condiments and even dish washing and laundry detergent . The main downside of the home is that there has been water damage that seeped under the floor tiles upstairs causing them to buckle and peel off. The tiles are a kind of cork that is supposed to look like wood. The mattress on the top floor needs replacing. Also the furniture in the living room has seen better days. And for some reason the home had an unhooked extra washing machine sitting in the kitchen. Overall the home felt like it needed to be refreshed and maintained. However, the location is superb and the neighborhood quiet.

Positive: Good location. Rental company quick to respond to queries. Negative: Parking space was small and difficult to manoeuvre into. I had to climb out of the boot once I’d parked! Process for sending ID and a £250 deposit for one eve (which took 2 weeks to be returned) was excessive! House is run down and well used. Back door didn’t have a key to lock it, just a bolt. Downstairs toilet looked dirty but I think just needed updating. Several blinds didn’t quite work etc.

Negative: The security around boking the property was absolutely ridiculous -I have never been asked for a photograph of myself holding my photo id. The whole process was very unclear and it was extremely difficult to get information about time frames etc from the security people. I was repeatedly told someone would reach out to me! Yuck!!! All I wanted was information. Booking.com has never been like this before -and I have used it many times.

A pleasant return visit to Oxford.
Positive: There was no breakfast—this is a self-catering house. Location is good—accessible to Oxford and to transportation. Negative: The operation of the key box was awkward—we had a difficult time opening it on arrival, and upon departing, after a long call to StayBeyond, we finally left the key through the mail slot, being unable to get the box to open (delayed our departure about 20 minutes). The Wi-Fi password in the house was not accurate—we eventually called StayBeyond to get the updated password. There were no instructions/information for appliances and other functions in the house—we resorted to finding a couple of them online. We made two or three calls to StayBeyond, who were very helpful, but who each time had to call the local owner/manager. One other minor item—the lock is partially missin on the downstairs bathroom door.

Positive: No comment Negative: The property didn’t have a functioning key. The back door had been left open so we were able to get in that way via the garden. Our stay was for 3 nights yet it took the property 23 hours to provide us with a functioning key (they had to change the lock). This severely impacted our enjoyment of the holiday as someone had to stay in the property for a full day (a third of our stay) until it was fixed. It created a lot of stress for the rest of us and bookings at museums etc had to be missed as a result so we lost money. I find this unacceptable - a basic requirement of a property is to provide a working key.

Positive: The location is excellent for Oxford city center. There were nearby Restaurants and pubs just minutes away. Negative: I wasn't sent an email with the lockbox code on. It took us a while trying to find who to contact to get in. The beds were quite uncomfortable with winter duvets on. One of the beds is metal and is very squeaky to the point that you woke yourself up every time you moved. There is something wrong with the top floor bed so you can only sleep on half of it. All the blinds seem to be tangled up so they don't close properly.

Terrible blinds in two other rooms that let a lot of light through and woke us up early. Badly equipped kitchen (fewer bowls etc than the number of people staying!). Attic bedroom door didn't shut properly. Bath plug didn't fit. No lightbulb in bedroom light. Lots of noise outside at night, and we suspect someone came into the back garden both nights as things had moved. Penis shaped cookie cutters!

The only downsides were the house is not very well noise-proofed - in the upstairs bedroom you could hear everything people were saying in the living room. The walk from the train station to the house along the canal is 10 mins and 15 mins along the streets. We didn't explore Jericho, because we were in Oxford for a conference and were very busy, but it looks like the cafes and shops in the neighborhood are very nice.

It is ideally located close to shops, grocery stores, pubs, etc. Check in was swift, did not require any physical interaction and was very well planned. The caretaker also was very friendly and helpful. I will make this a regular for my annual conference in Oxford.

Hands down the highest quality home we have every stayed in on Airbnb. The fixtures and finishes throughout the house, quality of towels and linen, etc. With 4 bedrooms and all amenities including washing machine, dryer and dishwasher along with high quality full kitchen, was great for us as a family (2 adults and 2 teenage children) Could not suggest a single improvement. Location was also awesome, a couple of minutes to cafes, pubs and restaurants of Jericho, and a 10 to 15 minute walk to the middle of Oxford. We loved Oxford, and we loved this home! Would have given it a 6 star rating if we could :)

If you turn left when you go out the front door and walk up to the next street, turn left and walk up to the corner and then turn right (you will be going around the school at the end of the road). Then walk up to the busy street and turn right. At Little Clarendon Street cross the street and turn left, walk up to the corner and turn right. You are now heading into town. It sounds complicated but it isn’t really. 15-20 minutes.

The house was perfect - clean, spacious, comfortable & quiet. Our negative experience was with the management company that run this property. On our second day, just as we were leaving the house to go to a wedding, two people turned up saying they were the cleaners sent by the management company to get the place ready for another guest that was arriving that day. I called the contact number for the management company, and reached one person who couldn't help me, but transferred me to someone else, who also didn't know what was going on. He said he'd have the local manager call me back, but no one did. In the end the cleaners just left and no other guests arrived, but we were all very unsettled by the experience, worrying that strangers would be in the house with all our stuff while we were out.

As a first time Airbnb user, we had a great weekend with our old friends and their kids. 4 adults and 4 kids could stay comfortably there, and the house was perfect as it allowed us adults to chat over a bottle of wine in the living room after putting kids to bed. The accommodation was clean, spacious and nicety decorated. The kitchen was well equipped, too. The location is fantastic and within walking distance to supermarkets, restaurants (5-10 min) the train station (20 min) and anywhere in central Oxford.

Jeff's house is lovely! The location is amazing, in Jericho, very close to restaurants and cafes. The house is big, it's 3 floors, and it has 4 bedrooms. Its perfect for families or a big group. It's very modern and comfortable. We had everything we needed. I would totally recommend staying here.

Great place to stay in Oxford!
The house is a great place to stay when visiting Oxford with friends or family. It is located 15 minutes walking distance from the town centre and in a quiet location. The property is clean & tidy and has all you need to cook and relax. The only couple of things that I would mention though is the garden is very small and not groomed so you cannot really sit outside and there is only 1 bathroom & a separate toilet not 2 bathrooms as mentioned in the property description.

Si de l'extérieur, la maison ne semble pas attirante, l'intérieur est par contre très bien aménagé. Il ne manque rien pour cuisiner et se détendre. L'emplacement est parfait pour un séjour à Oxford. En 10 minutes à pied, on est dans le centre. Oxford est une ville sympa, jeune, avec des monuments historiques à tous les coins de rue. Point négatif : l'annonce sur Abritel parle de 2 salles de bains, mais il n'y en a qu'une ! Il y a bien deux toilettes, ouf.

Beautiful and Well Located Home
We loved the location and the layout of the New Cardigan home. Great space, very convenient to the railway station, and an easy walk into the center of town. Two issues keep us from giving it Excellent marks: 1. The parking space is actually NOT an official space and requires one to navigate from the narrow street up and over the kerb (no dip or ramp) and into an extremely tight area between the house and a bicycle parking area. While doing so, I had an unfortunate and ultimately expensive encounter with a small metal sign post which scratched our rental car. 2. The heating was out, on what turned out to be the coldest and snowiest days of the year. The management was very proactive in fixing it when we called, but it took three separate visits and we spent an unfortunate amount of time bundled up and uncomfortable when inside.
